New position is a hoot. Despite understaffing and too much travel. Going to New York next week... trying to negotiate Seattle late April for a whole week of training. I'll keep you in the loop.
Snow was vastly over-rated. People here overreact. Washington is so Type-A that we raided the stores before the storms hit, then everyone stayed in for the entire weekend. Hardly anything happened. Will & I went grocery shopping sunday... it was eerie. Like a ghost town. This town needs a giant Xanax.

You were right-- my new boss totally loves me! And I think she is cool, too. I am almost *excited* to go back to work.
Glad to hear D.C. is not as bad off as they were making it sound.
I hope I can get away to come up to Seattle in April-- for now, at least I am working weekends. But if you are there for a whole week, I should be able to come up for at least part of it. . .
Basically the same thing I was doing in Indiana. You know me and the social work. Although I must say that working with developmentally disabled adults is much less challenging than working with emotionally disturbed children.
So, yeah, I got a job in a group home, working with people with Autism, Mental Retardation, etc. . . I haven't met the guys yet (there are five residents) but they sound relatively low maintenance and potentially fun, and my new boss is really cool! She is fairly young (mid-thirties I'd say) and fun and full of energy with a low tolerance for bullshit. And she totally loved me, which is always nice, too!
No, although in some ways I would have preferred that. But I got swing shift, 2pm-10pm. Which is cool, it means I get to take the guys out into the community and do stuff with them (dinner, special olympics bowling, walks in the park, etc. . .) Graveyard works well for me in other ways-- that way my dogs are just sleeping while I'm gone (and not awake and bored and staring out the window waiting for me to come home) and I'm a night owl anyway and there is usually dead time I can use to do school stuff (when I am motivated). But swing is okay, too. But I was planning on hitting the gym in the morning after I got off work if I had graveyard, and now I'll have to find a gym that is open way late. All the Curves around here close at like 7pm. I might have to go to a gym with *boys*. Eeeeeeewwwww.

And glad you got some rest and work isn't so trying *every* day. I admire your ability to put up with such things-- not jobs for the faint of heart.
And I'm sure the kids are glad you are there.
