:O I will admit a little of the 'Carrie' book's "style" of storytelling was an inspiration for me. Something leaning into the hybrid genre of fiction I was thinking would be fun to write.
OMG... the suspense! What is going on with those Storm kids? And the mother? Yikes! She seems like a very VC Andrews-type mother, doesn't she? *cackles* But I love that!
I loved the transcript at the end. It was perfect, with all the little background noises typed in. I used to work in Claims, and spent some time in the Special Investigations and Fraud Unit... and we would have EUO's transcribed and they read pretty much just like that. Every noise was on there, typewritten, if it could be identified. Awesome!
Really? :D Sweet! I'm glad it came off so well. I did my best to convey how I imagined some spoken transcript might be kept. Something a little like a movie script.
I'm getting a real Stepford Wive vibe from the mother. Did the father create her in the basement for his dastardly plans? Then he set her up to watch over the five "children", young sims who are not biologically his children, but will be raised by him (and the organization he works for) nonetheless.
This is wonderful. But I can't believe you call THIS a small diversion from your Pleasantview story. *snicker* If this were my story, I'd be obsessed with it.
O_O... You're idea intrigues me... I'll have to write something along those lines sometime. :P Darn plot bunnies!
I think of it as smaller because the cast is FAR more contained. I only have to visit usually two lots in playing where in Pleasantview every lot in the neighborhood is full and I have to play through them ALL to forward the story. Plus there's like 1001 characters to deal with in Pleasantiview. As fun as it is and as much as I enjoy it sometimes it overwhelms. :D
Plus, the last three times I went in there David Ottomas set himself on fire.
Now THAT would life consuming! First you'd right an alternate universe to your major story and then an alternate universe to that and then an alternate to that until 50 years later you find yourself back at your original tale.
The thing that struck me about not-so-fire-friendly David was it would always happen after a fight with Tosha Go... She must be REALLY mean! :P
