Went snowboarding in Maine with people of fun and awesome

This weekend, I flew to Boston to meet up with roninotter, halioffirpine, lynxkitten, zschamm, Stacy, and Justin for a road trip up to Sunday River in Maine to get back on the snow after a much-too-long hot season (yes, I realize that I live in Florida). The place was crowded. The snow conditions were very inconsistent, which made it abysmal. The company was superb! The food was ( Read more... )

You had me thinking the other day just how far north I would have to drive (now that I have a better car) to get to "the slopes" to try my hand at sliding downhill. Seems I have to drive almost, if not further, as far as I would if I drove to your house. ACK! If NC had some really nice weather for snow, then I would be lucky, but it's mostly in VA from what I've seen. Besides, I wouldn't be so hot to trot unless I had someone to go with anyway. Good luck on some more trips dude. Bring back pictures next time if ya can. :

North Carolina has Sugar Mountain. Surely that isn't as far a drive as central Florida. I went snowboarding at Sugar last February. The conditions were terrible, and it was crowded, but that's 'cause it was late in their season and Valentine's Day. I'm sure that if you went sometime in January that it would be a pretty pleasant experience.

As far as bringing back pictures goes: I don't have a working camera, so I have to rely on whether or not someone else is doing photography or video. This last time, everyone was far more focused on just staying on their own two feet than to try to manage a camera. I'm sure that when I go to Killington, VT and Copper Mountain in Colorado in February that there shall be photos. :)
