Sometimes reality is cruel. :<

Some quick research has revealed that I cannot include Sean Parker reading The Secret in TSN fic, as it was not published until 2006. This is an EPIC TRAGEDY, as all thinking people will concede that this should be his favorite book EVER ( Read more... )

True Blood really felt like a chore. There were so many storylines that you could never get invested in any of them, and they dropped a bunch of them even if you were keeping track. I swear I laughed more in any single episode of the first two seasons than over the entire course of this season.

I agree: TVD > TB. Even TVD ads are more engaging!

yes, a chore. aptly put! Definitely too many storylines that were poorly connected. When I compare to last season's TVD it's like night and day -- the pacing, the consistency of characterization, character motivations... *sigh*

I actually know the answer to the Georgette Heyer question!

Like you, I was wondering the same thing a while back. So I headed over to IMDB to see if there were by chance any credits for Heyer (sometimes there are listings under writer of the novelist as well) and there were two, from quite a while back (I want to say the fifties but am too lazy to find again). Anyway, on the board, someone asked about it, if the adaptation had been so terrible that any more had been nixed, and sadly, that was indeed the answer. Apparently Heyer didn't like it, and said no more in her lifetime and I believe asked her heirs the same. It's terribly sad, because I agree with you, they would work so well as movies, or even lavish BBC TV adaptations.

Thanks for the explanation. I can only hope that someone has got to break within my lifetime. This is a travesty. D: D:

For what it's worth, I know a whole handful of folks who worked on Warrior (assuming it is the same one, which I'm pretty sure it is) and none of them seemed particularly impressed by it during the production phase.

Which doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad film, just that based on what I've heard it wasn't necessarily as well thought out as it could have been before they went to production. (That's what most of the things they didn't like about it boiled down to, anyway - a few of them were pretty skeptical it'd ever get released.)

This does not surprise me, from what I've heard. *sigh* It makes me so sadface, because I'd actually love to see a good movie about MMA fighters that was well researched and shows realistic fights and fighter lifestyle. oh well, they usually fuck up boxing so there was really no reason to dream.

I have no idea why on earth The Corinthian hasn't been made like eleventy billion times.

And pfffft reality schmeality, if the timespace continuum doesn't work with your fic, it's obviously the timespace continuum that's wrong.
