Feb 04, 2011 02:14

I just realized I've had these notes on an open Notepad file for like 3 days. Guess I should post?

Yep, I couldn't help the curiosity and I checked out the US adaption of Being Human.

I hate to admit it, snob that I am, but I am not nearly as disappointed by the US version as I assume I'd be. Tell no one!

Me too. I didn't hate it but I'm not going to watch it again, especially now that UK BH S3 has arrived, which I kinda love (I'm so happy since S2, not so much).

Yeah, it's not awful but it's a really weak substitute for the UK trio. No reason to really watch it (except possibly my weird Forever Knight Nick/Lacroix nostalgia) I watch the original and am always overwhelmed with my love for the Annie/Mitchell/George bond -- that SO does not happen with the US one.

I'm one of the few who loved BH S2 (when it was airing it frustrated me, but once I had the whole storyline I loved rewatching it), but I'm also liking S3 a whole lot.

Although I am interested in how USBH is going to attack the gay ninjas scenario. That was one of the laugh-out-loud funniest scenes in the first season, despite it being a little un-PC, hence, my curiosity.

I did the same as you - gave the US version a try, but... I have to agree with you pretty much completely. The US actors are just not as compelling - and the dialogue isn't as good. The British zingers aren't there - they can't be, of course, because you know Americans wouldn't get that humor *insert massive eyerolling* - and overall, I found that I just didn't care. Oh, and yanno I swing both ways and I don't think the Aidan actor is hot, either. Mitchell - hell yes!! But US version... no. So I'm not watching it again... it's like having really bad deja vu. Yuck.

US BH is exactly that - off, and unnecessary, and flat. And! they have *BOTH* Annie and Mitchell FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG. *dissapointed sigh*

It's weird to me that characters are referring to Aidan as hot when I find the actor pretty unattractive. He has a weird, block-y face. It's just so... block-y. HE IS MADE OF SQUARES. I find him almost elephant-man like. His playdoh has been damaged. Its not his fault, but it seems like a reality poeple should be honest about.

I don't think even Bishop/Aiden (ala Nick/LaCroix) can keep me watching. Just no. Though I can now see myself looking up old FK fic

I was also surprised by the nurse thing. Being a competent nurse can't be easy to fake, which suggests that Aidan has perhaps actually gone through nursing school? Or has he been doing nursing for a couple hundred years and learnt it that way? Him being an orderly is far more believable.
