Aww, you make a cute grandma :) You know, for some reason, I just assumed you did the plays in Italian. But yeah this was cool. Your accent, well yeah I don't hear the Scottish either, old yes, Scottish no. There is something there though, I just don't know what it is. Maybe it's a little bit "wicked witch of the west"-ish. Mr. Werewolf yeah, well his just sounds like he is trying to hide an accent.

And back to the topic from the last post, these were in the comics section of the paper the last two days and thought they fit well.

Aww, thanks! No, not in Italian because the club is sponsored by the Department of Anglo-German Languages, hence the acting in English. The Director isn't very good at it though, that's why he coaches us in Italian.

Mr. Werewolf yeah, well his just sounds like he is trying to hide an accent.

Wow! I hadn't noticed that! I'll listen more closely now.

And the comics... Brilliant! :D The absurdity of teaching English as a foreign language: you have both 'fish and chips' and 'potato chips' in the textbook -- how are the kids supposed to learn?

Ah, very cool idea for foreign language practice :)

Regarding Mr. Werewolf's accent, what I notice is that Italian (and other Latin based languages), generally have a nice flowing rhythm to it. And well that follows over to english but in a different rhythm than native english speakers. He sounds like he is intentionally trying to break that up, and while it would have been hard for me to place his accent as Italian, it was very clearly not a native speakers accent.

Oh, I find it absurd every time I go to a seafood restaurant and see "fish and chips" listed on the menu, because the next line explains "Deep fried beer battered halibut served with lightly salted french fries." or something similar. It just bugs me they use both terms that close together.

Oh, and who knew pigs needed to shave in the morning :)

Okay, now I'm definitely going to ask him about the broken accent. I want to do it too! My dissertation supervisor is always telling me that it leaks out I'm Italian from time to time.

It just bugs me they use both terms that close together.

Italian is no better, unfortunately, because we try so hard to use English (on menus etc.) that I'm always amused by what comes out of it.

I have no idea what I'm even saying, but YAY.

♥ Thank you all the same! I've always liked acting (or pretending to be someone other than me) - when I'm writing a story, I usually enact it if I don't think it's working - but I never thought I could actually pursue it, academically I mean.

Definitely enthusiastic, yes! :D

I can't get the video to load but that little snippet of the script is awesome. I love it when people modernize fairy tales and such, giving them clever twists. Like Wicked.

Oh snap! But I'm glad you like the script, we have the whole scene with RRH and the Werewolf as a big twist on the fairy-tale usual dialogue ('What big eyes you have' 'The better to see you with' etc.)

Haha, I laughed so hard at your granny's voice XP No offence. And yes, it definitely looked more matching to the ravishing theory. Lmao But no costume yet, right? I long to see how you look in it :)

None taken! It's meant to be that way, though everyone I've showed the clip to cracks up at the Werewolf's falsetto too.

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE HOWLING IS ALL HIM! I thought it was the crowd egging him on! O_o

No costume yet, I didn't want it to get... dirty (that sounds wrong). I think I'll dress up tomorrow morning and take a couple of pictures so you can see the whole ensemble - I'm pretty proud of it actually.
