Yeah, all of that Romance and Drama and Political Backdrop stuff kind of gets lost in the shuffle when you start imagining that it's the Two Men who are secretly in love. Seriously, I'm still snickering over the whole thing. Otherwise, an absolutely gorgeous film from a cinematography standpoint. And the challenge scene, with the Sleeves of Doom, kicked all kinds of ass.

The Sleeves of Doom were super fantastic. Too bad they were 2 minutes into the movie.

The whole thing just fell apart after the hamadryad girls rescued them from the cops. It's like round robin fanfic, and somebody awesome started it all, and then somebody... not so awesome wrapped it up. Grr.

I WANT to see this movie. I don't know why, per se, I don't. But still. OMG!

On the whole it was worth it, because gorgeous. But a movie that could have been amazing, but isn't? Special place in hell. Extra frustrating.

Absolutely one hundred per cent agree with you. Hero was much better. And that Zhang Zhiyou girl annoys me. Easy on the panting angst, dearie. But the bamboo fight scene ROCKED.

So true about the bamboo fight scene. A lot of this movie was terrific! Just, not enough.

I haven't seen Hero. I live under a rock, you know.
