While I wait for one of the people I contacted for documentation re: therapy cat, I've been making a list of items needed/wishlist for Maybe Kitty
( Read more... )
You probably don't need the flea treatments unless the cat comes with fleas (most of those treatments are toxic chemicals and best used only when needed.) Treats are nice to have, but not really needed (again a lot of available treats are chemical base with very little nutrition.) You will need nail clippers and a name/info tag. I don't use the plastic bags in the litter box, if the cat is not declawed then the bags will get ripped (and some cats like mine eat plastic bags.) I have a water dome bubbler if you want it, I'll be honest it is a real pain to clean (I suspect it wouldn't be quite as bad if your cat doesn't insist on drinking with its' feet in the water dish). The bubbler does use filter cartridges I think it's $8 for 3 and I may have some. Cedarific is a great cat litter, hard to find, but it is low dust, low odor, and low tracking, as well as completely natural, it's just cedar sawdust.
I had actually meant plastic grocery bags for disposal of waste I pull out of the litter box, not as lining. Sorry for the confusion.
Does name/info tag mean registering kitty somewhere? And do you recommend special clippers? We usually use the human kind, but I know some cats fight that (*coughChaoscough*). If there's anything bad to be said about using fingernail clippers, I've never encountered it.
I'll have to think about types of litter, and see what Price Chopper has in Middletown. Will keep an eye out for the Cedarific though. :)
Fleas--yeah, I didn't think that far ahead. Mom usually doses ours in the summer when they go outside a lot. This one will have to be indoors, so there's less of a problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. <3

Human nail clippers are bad, they can split their claws, any pet store will have cat clippers for a couple bucks.
