Sometimes I get these thoughts that buzz around my head, and I can't go to sleep until I write them down, or at the very least fix upon them, commit them to memory, and decide to write them down as soon as I wake up. That's how I can go all day and still be mentally chewing on a dream from three nights ago. One night I simply could not rest until ( Read more... )

Home is the people, not the place.

You might have an attachment to somewhere, but that attachment is because of the memories it triggers, rather than the place itself, and your strongest memories are always those with people in them, rather than places. Places simply trigger that connection :)

Winchester does indeed do very good new age shops ;)

Wow, epiphany indeed! By the way, I love the way you write and reflect here, it's like reading a novel. Anyway, I can relate to the feeling of needing to make the place you are home rather than there being a place where everything will comne together. I used to run, run, run all the time, but now I just make do with what I have, where I am.

I hope that this discovery will continue to be a positive one for you, the world really is your oyster!

Firstly, happy new year :-)

I love that you bought Souvlaki! Always makes me laugh coz that's a yummy snack in Greece consisting of lamb and vegetables, lol.

Have to disagree with Mr Selerox on one thing though, I don't necessarily think that strongest memories are always those with people in them. Not for me anyway. I've been to a ton of places that I have amazingly strong memories of from simple things like the sights, smells, sounds, etc. I think sometimes people can ruin good memories!

If you make a home somewhere you are definately attached to it should feel natural and exciting, not like you are taking a risk. It's just a new opportunity and there's nothing stopping you. Go with the flow and don't worry about needing guts because, as you said, if you don't like it there is nothing stopping you from moving on.
