SO I have new icons! It was a long weary journey, involving a trek across the great white expanses of Google and climbing through LiveJournal comms

Icons! That Lirael one is indeed gorgeous, although I don't have Clayr blood or a sword and am thus vulnerable to inconvenient things like freezing or being eaten by bears, I think. It'd be so embarrassing to not live long enough to use a toilet.
Text icons are so hard-- everyone has a different idea of what typefaces are good, and how much change within an icon is too much, and what's too fancy, and how small is too small. I'm glad we share a taste for sans serifs. :D
We can put together a grizzly bear protection scheme. Rangers? Or well, I know lots of people live in Canmore up in the mountains and they don't seem to have a problem...although once in awhile in the news there'll be stories of joggers punching coyotes or whatever. I think people get killed by skiing out of bounds more often, to be honest :( Avalanche season is pretty deadly there.
YES! I want a good quote, which is visible/legible, plus a good spacing, plus an agreeable font. That's a lot of criteria, so I end up rejecting a lot of them.
Hee! Actually now that you say that, I think I understand why they're both sans-serif--it's easier to read. I like being able to tell what my icons say without squinting too much ;) That said, given a preference, I'd go for serif fonts. They're just so...so perfect. *has typography flail*
the Lirael one is def gorgeous and lol @ Sidonie's quote. yeah, i admit that i don't quite get the Barquiel love myself...no offense to those who do. it has more to do with being a Delaunay fangirl than anything else- Edmee de Rocaille, never forget, people! :P
I wanna be there! I'm such a sucker for landscapes. And I think all the Abhorsen books got really great covers, actually--I only recently realized that there's actually a black shadow on the cover of Sabriel--that must be one of the Dead.
I don't understand why he can't quit! Argh, that man. How much proof from Imriel do you need?! And yes to the Edmée thing :(
