All Aflutter

I watched Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley for the first time tonight. Luckily, it's recorded on the DVR so I can watch it again and again. Wonderful! Brenda Blethyn is truly the perfect Mrs. Bennet. She nailed her flibbertigibbet ignorance. And Matthew Macfadyen is yummy. He's almost as dashing as Clive Owen.

Aw, isn't red-headed Mr Bingley the cutest thing ever?

see, now you're in the proper frame of mind for Bride & Prejudice, a showing of which yesterday got me through a couple of flu-y hours with minimal groaning.

(what The Beau doesn't realize is that today's showing is the A&E P&P, which is the one with Colin Firth for six hours. oh, wait. today is Sunday. AGH! Colin... Saints. Colin... Saints. oh, all right, Colin can wait. boy, do I love Dem Boys.)

I feel bad that I haven't watched it yet but it's been safely packed away. I know where the DVDs are now that we unpacked the Go-Mini waiting for its pickup so I can dig it out for immediate viewing.

I haven't seen that version yet. I don't mind Miss Knightly in the Pirate movies, so I probably won't mind her in this role. Anyone but Gwyneth Paltrow, thank you.

But, shockingly enough, P&P is not my favourite Austen novel - I don't even like Emma that much. I like Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility much more.

This is a GREAT adaption, if you've never seen it:

Sense and Sensibility is my favorite, then P&P and then Emma. I need to get my hands on Persuasion and Mansfield Park. I agree about Gwyneth. Not a good Emma. But Keira Knightley was very good as Elizabeth Bennet.

I love that version. I was so ready to hate it because I love the BBC version with Colin Firth, but I couldn't because it was so good.

I have always wanted to see the BBC version but never have. I love Colin Firth. And now I also love Matthew Macfadyen.

The scenes where Elizabeth realizes she has feelings for Darcy are so wonderful in the movie. I can't wait to watch it again!
