I was too old for the Cabbage Patch Kids craze. I will have to post my story about the day I was almost run over by a horde of moms trying to get to Cabbage Patch dolls during the height of the mania.

Hmmmmmmmm...let's see, I'd have to say my favourite thing was barbie. I had two proper barbies and one of those cousin thingees. My dad made me some lovely wooden furniture for them.

I also liked my stuffed doggie named Toto. I took him around with me everywhere.

I had a Barbie, Ken and a Twiggie doll. Yes, Twiggie the model. My grandmother gave her to me. She was trés chic.

I never had a Ken doll for some reason.

Maybe that's why I like to dress up Jim.

Oh, a Twiggy doll!! I wonder how much that would be worth today? I'm gonna check it out on Ebay.

That Jim is such a good sport! ;-P

I'd be curious about Twiggy's going rate. Mine is well-loved so not anywhere close to mint condition.

Board games. I always adored board games. Milton Bradley. Ideal. Parker Brothers. I thought working for them as an adult would be exsquisite. :-)

Still, my favorite present every year was the paperback novel that would be loosely wrapped in tissue paper and tucked in the top of my stocking. I would read as the family went 'round the circle (which took forever!) opening presents.

What a good idea about reading while the rest of the family did the gift thing! Although, I had enough of a problem with reading constantly as it was so it might not have been allowed.

Yeah, that's right....punish the smart people.

What's up with that?!

I think my parents thought it was rude when I wanted to read at family functions and at holiday meals. It was really a way to keep from being bored stiff. ;-)

I've never even heard of Construx. I'll have to ask Juannie if he knows about them. He worked in a very cool toystore in the 80s.

That auction is pretty serious. And it sounds like a good deal to me. All that for just $50!

Yeah, I don't know what the deal was with Construx. My parents definitely got some for me and had a carrying case and all that and my best friend across the street had some too. But, there are plenty of people that have just flat-out never heard of them. Maybe it could have been because their stuff wasn't very long-lived and gave up compared to the reign of Legos? You mention Legos and everybody has heard of them. *shrug*

I think I'm seriously going to get some of this stuff. When I have children (which may be soon considering I'm getting married in May!) I think it would be great to pass down some of these toys to my own little tykes one day :)

Peace,

Eric

Definitely Cabbage Patch Kids! I still have Cindy and she was one of the few things I took when I evacuated...

Cindy, my violin, and my dog Nola... things I couldn't have handled losing.

It made us all figure out what was really important. Damned storm! I took my signed Bill Clinton bio and my book journal with the list of all the books I've ever read.
