Wow, you were able to choose three? I'm useless at choosing these kinds of things, books I can at least say Lord of the Rings and Narnia because I've read them once a year, every year since I was six or seven. But that coveted third spot - yikes! I can think of about a dozen off the top of my head.
And don't even get me started on top 3 movies, that I could *never* do. Seriously.
Midnight's Children's been on my "to read" shelf for about... 10 years? I just cannot get started. I don't know why because I've only heard good things about it, and I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy it if only I got started (that reminds me when I had to write essays at uni, I could never get started, and once I was in, I couldn't stop *rolls eyes*). Also, I bought it when I was still reading French translations of books written in English, and now I'm frowning only by thinking of this... I guess I'd better give it away and buy an original version.
I don't know your other two. The Once and Future King sounds familiar because many people in Bpal groups mention it once in a while, but as I'm not big on fantasy, I've never even tried to know what it's about. This book's not known here at all.
I've read the Golden Bowl and it left me a "blah" feeling. I wouldn't list as one of the worst books I've ever read but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
