Just a note: I am now limiting my flames to two pages, max, except in extreme cases where I get so pissed off and rant about one topic for so long I'll allow myself four pages

The only reason why I'll flame long is to get a point across. That's it. Nothing else calls to action the need of 239874 page flames anymore. People are stupid, people are ignorant, and people are little fuckers.
People don't like reading, anymore, either.. *sigh*
and thus is the difference...utopianfiatJanuary 24 2005, 19:10:50 UTC
between the writer and the debater: the debater is taught to fit their arguments within a time limit, and trust me, you'd be surprised how easily you could lose peoples' interest in a seven-minute speech.
These stupid ignorant writers should learn to appreciate the 2+ page flames, as it means we, the intelligent flamers, actually spent time to thoroughly read and comment on their trash.
There's an exception to what I said above. There's a tactic used in Policy debate known as "spreading" (yes, we've heard all the jokes.) You spread by speaking sickeningly fast as to fit as many arguments into as limited time as possible. In my spreading prime I finished a sixteen page speech I had never seen before in 7 minutes with little to no speaking slip-ups. One of these days I ought to record myself and other debaters spreading and post it on the internet.
