A kid got out first, scanning the parking lot before moving aside Dean wouldn’t complain, he knew, but it still hurt to see his oldest grow even more quiet and withdrawn. Though mainly absent of the story, your Dean seems spot on to me. And the idea that were he to have developed his "profound bond" to Cas earlier, he might have had a less lonely childhood is so heartening.
