I never understood the whole John Mayer trio thing...what's it about?

he joined up with steve jordan and pino pallodino (who are both older, really respected/established musicians) to tour, playing blues covers and re-worked versions of some of his songs. they're playing smaller venues and focusing more on jamming out rather than pleasing the masses with the hits (i'll be incredibly surprised if ybiaw appears on any set list in any form whatsoever). a live disc is supposed to be released in november if everything goes well (which i would think so, considering all but two dates of the tour sold out within hours).

if you saw him perform on the tsunami telethon in january and play daughters on the grammys in february, that would the trio. steve and pino were the two playing with him. just drums, bass and johnny's guitar. i'm flying to denver with a friend to see it since he's not coming near here. i'm so excited. **bounces**

Although I'm pretty sure he'll just play at Los Angeles and feel like he's basically covered the entire westcoast. >_>
