I actually wrote something!

Blame heroes_contest for this! Have mixed feelings about this as it's the first thing I've written in about 18 months. Feel it could have gone better, but am kinda impressed with myself that I actually managed to get it finished by the deadline rather than just giving up! Writers block isn't quite broken yet, but I will be doing the next prompt and the one ( Read more... )

Thank you! I had rather mixed feelings about S2 Matt the first time I watched it, but I think by the second third (you don't really want me to confess how often I've seen it, really!) the kinda increasing dark side of him began to intrigue me. I hope volume three takes it further rather than just dropping it or anything- don't mind if they make him a bad guy or keep him a hero, but want these issues explored in some way!

*is distracted by the pretty of the Mordon icon* that scene with Vir is one of my favourites in any fandom ever!

and oooh, yes, I hope that's true! He was one of the biggest changes in 5 Years Gone so it would be really interesting to see how he changes into that (and if he can ever be brought back again)

This is a nice interpretation of how Matt views his progressions of his ability. Particularly how you weaved actual dialogue spoken in the show.

It's interesting, since Vol.2 was mainly about the older generation and their mistakes and sins, and questioning whether it is inevitable they will become what they once were someday or if they can change. I liked Matt's storyline because it has him dealing with those issues, but he has entered that gray area of using his ability to his advantage thinking that it is for the right reasons. He believes he is not his father because he is not a criminal, but in a way he is, he just doesn't want to admit to it.

Again, this was an interesting take on Matt and what he was going through Vol.2.

Thank you! Using the dialogue like that was something I was kind of wary about so I'm really glad it worked!

The idea of sons becoming their fathers is something that's always interested me- that whole nature or nurture debate. Since Matt's inherited his father's powers there's clearly some nature at play there. (also made me wonder, why him? Micah's powers are nothing like either of his parents so why is Matt's a direct copy?) And I wonder how far Matt will slip into becoming his father and will other characters notice and call him on it.

Thanks so much for the comment!

Really good insight into what's going through Matt's mind during S2. He went through so much and ended up doing some things that could be interpreted as "bad" but this shows that he still came out as a heros.
(He'd better stay a hero!)

Thank you! I ended up loving Matt in S2, I felt he really did have the best of intentions, but he's started going down a slippery slope. I'm hoping the S3 takes that further and makes him go darker for a while before, because I'm a sap, he brings himself back and becomes a stronger hero for it. (I am a total sap and I want a happy ending dammit! Him and Molly and Mohinder make the cutest family!)

This is very well done and very much in character for what we've seen of Matt. Such a slippery slope.

Thank you! I'm glad it's IC, that was my biggest concern when I was writing- been a long time since I last wrote and character's 'voices' aren't quite as loud as they used to be! I feel really sorry for Matt because I think he does genuinely have the best intentions and want to be a good guy, but these things can start spiraling so easily... thanks for the comment!

Oh, great! A lot of food for thought and you really tie together parkman's canon path to show us where he's heading, although you don't tell us really if he's wrong or right. The question is still kind of in the air. I appreciate that.

Thank you! I deliberately left the question open because I kinda feel that's where he is at this point. I think he's in a dangerous point at the moment and he really could go either way and I really can't wait for volume three to tell us what he does!
