Okay, fine. >.> I'm giving in and theming my icons for the time being. And considering seriously just getting a paid account, and finally supporting the place that I've been using for a decade to write my thoughts. ~_~
AHAHAHA OMG @ the last video. Yessss! I about crapped my pants in glee when I found that tent scene pic (I didn't, but, you know). :DDDD It was a lucky find, I assure you!
Isn't is GREAT? Oh man. I love whoever had the brilliant idea to use those clips for the movie "review."
Seriously lucky! I can't even tell you how much I'd looked for it. *glee*
But, don't you agree that the "trailer" is a good way to introduce someone to the series? Especially given the tone of the first episode? (Which is, I feel, the most 'Nickelodeon'esque of the entire series, and can be a turn off for someone who isn't prepared for the goofiness.)
Oh, for sure! Even when Steve and I were going to watch it, I had to give him a disclaimer -
"Now, remember that this episode is like every other pilot. It is not the best episode, and it caters to Nickelodeon. I will admit there is a fair amount of Nickelodeon-themed humor, but I PROMISE you it's really, really good!!!!"
Yeah, I have a policy for watching at least the first three of anything for that same reason. The pilot has to get through a LOT of exposition, and the actors are just getting into their roles, and in this case, the artists are just figuring out what they want people to look like and act like, and so on. It's like Opening Night of a performance. Still working out the kinks WHILE YOU'RE PERFORMING. O_O
And yeah, I feel that ATLA made the right choice politically to stick pretty close to Nick standards until it had a strong following. After the end of Season 1, you can really see how the show used it's undeniably popularity to pursue it's own line of story telling. And even then, Season 1 is still good in it's own right. u_u
Oh god. That movie. Even without having had a chance to view the actual series myself, all I heard was that 1.) if you don't know the series, you won't get the movie, and 2.) if you DO know the series, the movie is like a 103 minute slap in the face. :\
There's just SO much wrong... and it's one of those 'HOW COULD THEY SCREW UP SO BADLY?!" scenarios. >.<
Oh god, and then the interview about the casting controversy with M. Night Shyamalan, and he's all like "Anime is based on ambiguous facial features," blah, blah, blah... and... NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT IT ISN'T EVEN ANIME, BUT... UGH. *facepalm*
I'm going to go shout at inanimate objects or something for a while. >.<
ALL OF THIS!!!! I just watched the episode where we meet Toph and her family, and they are SO CLEARLY CHINESE!! Okay, yes, they have light skin, but their FEATURES are most definitely Asian. All the characters in the show have beautiful narrow eyes, except when in exaggerated expression. And don't even TRY to tell me that Katara and Sokka could be white - they are DARK! Even fanart often makes them look almost black! The fire nation being Indian-looking? NOOOO! NO NO NO! Oh my god!! They all had long ponytails they wore on top of their heads! Where was that in the movie besides oh yeah THE SKINNY VERSION OF IROH having long hair?! RGHGHHHH!
I was literally offended by that movie. It was so, so bad.
