So. I wanted a relaxing WE...

… and I got it. So here’s the deal: Friday free. Monday too. Four-day WE, ideal for catching up with classes and homework and a little bit of studying since weekdays are busy with work. Carefully-laid plans. Relaxing. Taking things slow… And slow indeed. Bed-couch-bathroom-bed. Freaking out-of-nowhere migraine, with a lot of throwing up and all ( Read more... )

Yeah... I hope so to because you know... HW and stuff. I need to be able to concentrate tomorrow morning at the latest... or I'll be in deep trouble. Mah. It's not that much pain anymore but I feel like floating, completely detached. And my mom is now telling me I should give a try to prevention-treatment... dunno if I want more meds, you know how I am about them ^^;;;;

But hey, I was lucky this hit on a WE after all, ne? ^^;;;;;;;,

You poor thing, I know exactly what you're going through since I suffer from migraines as well, and unfortunately can't really take anything for them since I have a difficult time swallowing pills. So I've found ways to deal with the pain, hopefully it might help you a little. What I usually do is drink some hot chocolate if my stomach isn't too upset, and then lay down in the darkest, quietest place possible. If my stomach can't handle anything, then I just go straight to laying down and sleeping. If you're room isn't dark enough even using a curtain or shade or drapes, take the darkest sheet or tablecloth you own and put up over whatever is already covering your window. And if you have a sleep mask, use that as well. This way you can be sure to block out all possible light, so if you can't keep your eyes closed, they won't be bothered by the light. Or just curl up completely under your blanket. XD ( ... )

Rare enough it's not light what bothers me the most but the... vibrations. You know, faint sounds and rumbles? Like when the downstairs neighbour walks, or the cars down the street? Those kill me. Of course when I walk I just end up throwing up...

Yeah, for some reason chocolate does help , sometimes the only thing I can force down my throat is Nutella (well, the Spanish version), but this one has been I think the worst one I've had until now. They seem to be increasing frequency and intensity, besides I get "normal" headaches more and more often and they stay longer (a couple of years ago a one-week headache was rare, now it's almost usual...) Blah. But I think what I hate most is the emotional state they leave me in. Like weak and whiny and blah.

*hugs* I'm better already, at least the pain is not a throbbing one anymore and haven't been throwing up. But thank you for the advice, will try it out the next time ^^;;;

I feel kind of bad because most of the answers I got right are the 'hates' and the 'miserable-like' ones. Like the ones about Doorbells and Christmas and migraines >':

Migraines are hell. I usually take two tablets of Panadol extra, grind my knuckles against the side of my head until I fall asleep in a quiet, darkened room, and take more Panadol if the migraine's still nagging 4-6 hours later. My mother, who found Panadol of no effect whatsoever, sometimes have someone do karate-chops on her upper back and do some quick hard tugs on locks of her hair (until she sorta hears pops). I heard that the hair-yanking method is quite effective, though I've never dared to try *pats hair protectively*

Feel better soon *hugs*

Really? The doorbell one was not easy XD the Xmas one... idk if I've ranted about it at any time XD

My mother/doc said something about prevention meds, but that she had not tolerated it. With my luck neither will I ^^;;;;;;

I'm more sensitive to motion and vibration than to light, the downside is that I find it harder to block, since stuffing cotton in my ears makes me dizzy because of the "void" sound... Guess that's why I throw up so much....

*hugs* thanks, I'm better now ^^V
