It's good to do things differently, if only for the insight it provides

After my special pasty glue failed to stick the cotton-wool to my skin, I took another approach to becoming a snowball for the night: double sided sticky tape attacked to underwear. My bra was easy enough to turn to snowball, but knickers proved far more of a challenge. After a couple of attempts, I’d managed to make some semblance of white, ( Read more... )

Being tall in a time when it wasn't remotely trendy, and in a school surrounded by people who seemed quite unlike me, it took more time for me to come to 'fit my skin'. Sometimes; a memory of that outsider status sneaks to the surface of the more at ease me that I now am. However, now I'm 'old', I'm even quite at ease with my gaucheness much of the time (though not always).

Happy New Year, miss, and hope the exam went well.

looked more like some 1970’s sanitary towels that had been savaged by Andrex puppies on amphetamines made me laugh out loud.

You really express beautifully that feeling of being on the edge of a party. And I agree that probably everyone feels gauche on the inside. I'm pretty gauche on the outside, too, though. Heh.

Also I hate that part about leading people on. Life is so damn complicated sometimes.

I love this post a lot.

If I had a digital camera and no self respect I would have photographed my failed attempt at snowball. It would have made coffee snort though many noses.

I think sometimes when you walk into a new place you start with that feeling and it eases through the evening; but for some reason (the significance of New Year and the contented coupleyness of those I was there with), it seemed to grow. I think also, that those little 'party extras' can be amplifiers to emotion, while pinning a smile to the surface. That's one reason why I'm so careful about when I take them.

Happy to give you something to love: you're always doing it for me.

Thank you for saying hello.

Looking at your friend's list, I recognize ksp24 and Warren Ellis. I have no idea how you found me, but you are welcome. I don't have a very large friend's list and I am not charged by bandwidth, so the few you take will not be noticed. Feel welcome to "Friend" me. It is my intention to post mp3's on a regular basis-- hopefully a few of them will be gems.

May today better than yesterday,

My friend's list is even tinier, with quite a few quiescent journals on it. I'm pretty sure I found you from a comment made in Warren's journal, along with an attractive icon. (Icons are funny how they can attract attention. I have a low-key icon that goes with my low-key presents on LJ; however, when I replaced my previous 'good' icon with my fancy-pants used on this comment, my journal suddenly received loads more hits for a brief period. I think they all rapidly moved on when they didn't find another foxy LJ exhibitionist to lust over).

So far, amongst the mp3s I've taken, there are already some gems. I occasionally post music, but tend to use yousendit, so they all quickly disappear.

Today has been fine (nothing special), and New Years wasn't bad as such; just slightly empty of something.
