If you get a chance, go to this, which I saw tonight.  OK you've only a few days left, and you're unlikely to be in London, and they only have returns left, and it's in Dalston, but try.  It was the most powerful piece of Shakespeare I've ever seen, and its transposition to a violent, war torn Africa brought it to life and gave it relevance I'd ( Read more... )

God help me, Em! This country is going to get flushed down the shitter!!! It you go to CNN.com they have a map of all the states who voted either way, and it's SO ugly. Bush got all of the south and the midwest. I kind of wish that the democratic portion of the country would just split off and form a new country that doesn't suck.

I wanna move to Canada or Ireland or somewhere that isn't populated by these ignorant hicks.

We have ignorant hicks here too, and they have them ireland. I don't think they're quite as extreme, but I could imagine a lot of them would think they'd done the 'right' thing to vote against the decline of society that they'd probably imagine would result from abortions on demand and gay marriages. And while we're, generally, more liberal, we still have Blair who's meant to be left wing!

Don't run, stay and shout. But if you need a little European retreat, you're most welcome here.

Incidentally, my email suggested anita posted here, but there was nothing to see. Are you two so entwined that she's invisibly linked to your LJ? Glad things are going well there and grades are coming back good.

I was at her house when I posted, so I accidentally posted under her name, then went back, erased the post, and repeated under mine.
