From the conversations I've had with service reps on the phone (it took a month to get our DSL kit) they seem helpful, but they have to be pushed to actually get anything done.

Though my mom has had the phone service for years now and hasn't had a problem with it. My friend has had his DSL with them for about two years and I haven't heard any complaints other than slow downs during peak use times. (Though the same happened with Comcast too.)
