Susan hands him a biscuit and Neville takes it, jerking his hand back as her touch shocks him. Susan winces, too, so Neville knows he wasn’t imagining it.
“Static,” she comments with a wry smile.
“Um, yeah.” Neville blushes. “Y’know, Seamus still has some teabags if you want to stay for a drink.”
“I can’t. I need to get back; a couple of third years had detention.” Detention needs no explanation and Neville reluctantly nods.
“Neville,” she says quickly, eyes widening. “That portrait’s back.” Neville turns and Ariana beckons to him.
“Stay here,” he tells Susan.
“But…”
“Just stay here.”
