It's not a punishment to remember someone you love. The punishment is to forget him.

This is a quote from a movie I watched the other night,"Νύφες"(Brides),a greek movie of 2004.It is a movie essentially about love. Also about a time very different from ours...And also it's a movie about people...

So,it's not a punishment to remember someone you love. The punishment is to forget him. But,what if you never had someone to love? What if ( Read more... )

You know, I've had similar thoughts the other day.

Right now I am at uni, always meeting new people and making friends ... but I also notice that it is all just temporarily. Like, I met this girl in my english class and she is such a sweet girl and I am sure we could have become really close friends, but she is going abroad for a year and I probably won't see her again.
And that made me thinking about how I met all those brilliant, interesting and just simply awesome people here and I cannot even imagine a life without them anymore and yet someday really soon our ways will part ( ... )

I know what you mean...Although I don't open up easily to people and I'm not that great into making new friends, being in uni I met wonderful people, young persons who like me have their dreams,hopes,fears...We have created a nice company and although it is too soon I can't remember how it was before I knew them...

Yeah. I've lost contact to almost all of my friends from school. Of course, that is normal considering I moved away to another town, but still. And I do not even miss them that much, because of those new people.
And let me tell you, I've always been a very shy person, and sometimes I get so frustrated with myself that I just tell myself to screw it and go for it even though I am scared hehe

And what happens when the punishment is to remember the one you love, but you wish you didn't?

I can only reply based to what I have or haven't experienced...So my answer is that at least you loved someone...It is important even if it hurts or even if sometimes you wish you could erase him/her from your memory...What we live is what we are...

This reminds me of a movie I saw called Afterlife. I think it was Japanese. In it, people who die go to this building and it's like the idea of purgatory, I guess, and they wait. But they're invited to think of their favorite memory and the people there are like producers and directors and they help recreate that favorite moment of life and eternity is spent with that moment.

My mom and I were talking today about my dad, who died 14 years ago of cancer and my younger brother, who died of leukemia when I was eight, and we were talking about the way things used to be when they were alive.

I think the best art, the best novels or movies or short stories deal with thoughts like the thoughts you presented in this post. About leaving people behind. And there's that great Beatles song, In My Life that also says all of this so well ...

Interesting movie...It's quite the same with what the girl in my movie did and what so many people do in real life...Frightening,isn't it?All your life, one memory...

I've never heard that song before...It was beautiful and expressed quite well what I was thinking, though with a more optimistic way than mine I think...
