Three book thoughts and one moment of TV pining

1. I finished The Pursuit of Love the other day and now, if Nancy Mitford were still alive (she died in 1973; I checked), I would sit her down and have a conversation about endings. I am not good at endings. Most of the time I'd really just like to conclude with a well-placed "The End" or possibly a "meanwhile, back at the ranch..." if it's just a ( Read more... )

Thanks so much for the link to Margaret Atwood's Anne of Green Gables essay. I'm not a bit ashamed to tell you that it made me cry! (I would have to agree with her that watching Anne grow up was too painful for me. I stopped after "Anne of Avonlea," but read those two books often enough to make up for the rest of the series three times over).

Fair enough. I basically love them all, but for whatever reason, I think I may have read Anne of Avonlea a few times fewer than the rest of them. Maybe because it's right before Anne of the Island, which is my favorite? I don't know.

Also, I TOTALLY didn't know until I read that essay that Matthew and Marilla were siblings. Did I know that as a kid? I'm pretty sure I thought they were married. Weird.

Oh gosh, I love Neil Gaiman! I haven't read Coraline, though. But when you're done with that and ready to move onto his novels, let me know, because I have lots of recommendations. :)

Where can I get these Lost podcasts? I just got a Zune and wanted to try out podcasts in general, and this sounds like the perfect one to start with.

You make me want to rewatch Gilmore Girls and reread Anne of Green Gables! :P
