Sometimes work just sucks like that - I take a lot of heat for things I never even touched here in the office. I remind myself that it's not personal and that the person who really should be blamed is just passing the buck. As long as I handle it with dignity, I come out looking like the hero. Then I make sure to say something to the owner about it later when no one else is around.
