When we had rabbits we fed them pellets, hay (timothy hay is the most popular kind) and fresh green veggies. Pellets for fiber, protien and minerals, hay for hairballs and and good digestion.

Seconded. Timothy is less caloric than alfalfa, so if the bunnies are young (< 1 year), alfalfa may be the way to go; timothy otherwise.

As far as veggies go, we tend to feed them alternately kale, broccoli, and romaine, and a carrot (because they love them). I'd recommend your parents grab a book on rabbit care (like this), as rabbits can be fairly delicate creatures. In particular, they have tricky digestive systems, and if they stop eating for a day, it usually requires immediate attention (lest it lead to GI stasis, then death).

House Rabbit Society's Diet Guide. 'Nuff said. The big takeaway: unlimited access to hay and water, complimented by pellets and certain fresh veggies.
