DON'T YOU LOVE ME, BABY?

Apr 22, 2008 12:42

Oh, that reminds me of our agreement. It is with some regret that I inform you the price of your request has changed. After all, when I promised to deliver your letters to and from Watanuki, I had no way of knowing exactly how often my services would be required, did I? It is so difficult to predict our Watanuki’s actions sometimes (and amusingly easy to do so at others, but I digress)-and I confess I am surprised and pleased at how easily he embraced the idea of writing to you. As such, the frequency with which you two have written to one another has resulted in the increase of your total debt to me. At this time, I will forestall the matter of payment-you should enjoy your vacation without having to worry about trivial things like debts-but please be aware that the price of my services will continue to rise in proportion to the number of times it is solicited. That is, the more you and Watanuki write to one another (using my expedient delivery services), the higher the price goes. It is a slightly ruthless business tactic, I’m afraid, but somehow, Doumeki-kun, I don’t think the payment total will concern you too terribly when compared to the service provided, am I right?

On another note, I commend you on upholding your end of our bargain. The link between you and Watanuki has maintained its success despite the distance separating you. This is undoubtedly due to the letters you two have been exchanging. Watanuki has suffered no ill effects from your absence because your protection lingers over him; just as I assured you before you left Japan, as long as you stay connected to Watanuki through your letters, he will come to no harm while you are away. Words, as I have told you both, have a particular potency unequaled by any power except love. If you’ll forgive my audacity, Doumeki-kun, for mentioning this, you have nothing to worry about, since you are effectively utilizing both of these remarkable powers. If you still harbor doubts, please keep in mind this “invincible spell” which also utilizes these powers:

I’m sure everything will be all right.

With that, Doumeki-kun, I conclude my letter to you. I believe Watanuki has just about finished his own letter as well. I’m sending you a small gift by way of his letter. Think of it as a bonus service that comes with no extra charge, but no more freebies after this, hmm? Now hurry and write back to our dear boy (and to me as well, of course!), as he is most certainly going to be hopelessly distracted waiting for your next letter.

With fond regards,

Ichihara Yuuko

P.S. Though I have not quite decided the method of your payment, be sure to keep an eye out for any valuable liquor you come across during your stay in Los Angeles! When it comes to settling scores, a bottle or five of rare wine certainly doesn't hurt, hmm?

I. Y.
