hmm...well, the thing about that is arguably MOST love poems are about th manipulation of perception, (esp. Edmund Spenser, Petrarch -- any of those bloody sonnet writers except maybe Shakespeare) but what you're asking demands a certain amount of self-consciousness that is virtually unprecedented before the mid-20th century, and even now is fairly unusual. The only poem that springs to mind immediately is "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning, or perhaps "Porphyria's Lover" by the same.

If you looked up variations on the Pygmalion myths, that my yield something, and some Christina Rossetti might be in that vein, as well.

Well, unfortunately, the fact is that the poem has to match a theme...which is about manipulation in general, and I dunno, a love poem seems a bit off th mark as far as that goes, because the theme also has to fit like...5 pictures, one of which is a picture of a bunch of marionette puppets dressed up as teenagers or kids.

Yeah, "My Last Duchess" MIGHT work for that -- though it's about being unable to control someone and killing her as a result...are all five supposed to be about manipulation? Coz for a pic of children marionette puppets, "This Be The Verse" by Philip Larkin might work, though thematically it's rather different.

One place to check might be Restoration poets -- I can't think of a poem offhand (it's really not my area), but someone like the Earl of Rochester or Aphra Behn might have a poem like that.

Well, the pictures have to be different, really, they just have to fit the theme. So really, one of the pictures could be a dog, because one trains a dog to behave a certain way, hence manipulating it. Cuz I've already got the marionette puppet picture, as we had to choose 3 pictures from a series of like 27 or something, all of which were face down, then you choose one that you want to write a theme for.

Anyways, I checked out those poems and it's...I dunno, I think that my teacher will say that the poem doesn't fit the theme well. I suppose a better way to describe the poem(s) I'm looking for is like one that talks about having lack of choice due to the wills of people around you, or how at school/work/whatever your superiors want to mould you into the image of whatever they want you to be.
