As you once said of a troll over on the Asimov's message boards, who gives a tin fuck what Michelle Bachman thinks? She is about 14 minutes and 53 seconds into her quarter-hour of fame. The hell with her.

Good luck with the job. The intrinsic difference here between you not working and the people that are referred to by Bachman is that you are still seeking work and willing to work and should by that definition be entitled to any and all assistance to keep yourself and your family stable.

I work in Community Action, which is nonprofit social services and there are plenty of people who have for one reason or another given up on formal employment...yet as a nation, we decided that we were better than to let those people and their children starve.

I personally think that the best thing we could do would be to find informal ways for these individuals to contribute to society so that they are useful and begin to see themselves as part of things instead of on the fringe.

But, apparently, I'm a radical liberal. Which is odd, because I consider myself socially conservative. Yet, I refuse to believe that it's okay to abandon children to fate because their parents suck so that makes me some kind of leftist socialist. Shrug.

The intrinsic difference between anyone and Michelle Bachmann is that Bachmann is an evil little gnome of smug petty simple-minded greed and misanthropy, who's always had things given to her and doesn't care one fig leaf for people who actually have to struggle.
