In the sense that they can inspire wonder when viewed from a distance, maybe.

And sasha_khan, keep in mind that for silk-noir and I, that distance is at least 800 miles.

As my rational side rejects the idea of magic, I am free to use "magical" in a broader sense, and read that wider sense into others' use of it.

So, yes, dolphins, and butterflies, and horses are magical creatures, in that they get us to think beyond our normal limits.
