Okay, Advice?

Dieting is not going to fix my very sad ass.  (The Very Sad Ass: one of the children's books that didn't make it.)  It's just awful; it's the worst part of my body, but it needs attention just as much as the other parts do ( Read more... )

There is a fine acronym I learned about a decade or so back that I think might apply: F.I.D.O.
F-ck It, Drive On. If after 7pm is when you have time to hit the gym, then that's when you go to the gym, whether you are 'done' or not.

That or strap on leg-weights and do leg extensions while dinner is cooking.

My suggestion was going to be good butt exercises at home.

Strapping on weights to your ankles and doing backward leg lifts is good for building butt muscle.

So is doing the bridge pose in yoga, which you can do at home: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/472

Also, isolation exercises at your desk.

You rise a little in your seat with butt clenches, which may be intriguing to others, but so fucking what?

Can the kid be trained to prep cook? Useful skills, bonding with Mom, all that crap? 5:30 to 7, hell yeah. Sleep like a rock. It gets self-reinforcing.

I can't extrapolate from your post whether your ass issue is too much of it or not enough!

If it's the latter, I'll gladly give you a transfusion of my own ass-fat. This way, we BOTH win!

If it's the former...well, let's just say that it's been several years since I've darkened the doorstep of a gym, so take this to be advice rather than experience: Must you go to a gym to do butt exercises or can you do them at home? If you must, then I echo the crockpot idea.

Riding a bike is a way to get some good butt-exercise and bring the kid (whatever age) along.

If you have the funds, a Wii Fit is a really good thing to have in your living room--it will make you do step aerobics if you want.

Sorry I don't have any actual getting to the gym suggestions because I can't manage it myself.

I've done Wii Fit, but EA Active wins for adult workouts. ;-)
