I know some of you may have heard me mention this, but next week I'm going to observe Ramadan.

The reaction of most people who've heard me talk about this is WHY?

Which is a fair question. I'm not Muslim. I don't need to fast--my 1200 calorie a day diet is quite sufficient, thanks! (And for those of you who worry about me and that diet, please rest ( Read more... )

I think deeping your understanding of anything is a good thing.
It sort of puts me in mind of the year that I decided to keep Lent as my persona would have kept it... more or less. Thanks to the wonders of modern refridgeration, I had access to a wider variety of produce.
Did it help or hurt me?
Well, I did get more anemic than usual, which is saying something. I was a little more tired than usual.
It was also during this time that I finally made the decision to leave my ex-husband. I guess the time of reflection and introspection made me realize that I had done all I could, in both God's eyes and my own, to keep my marriage together, and that my ex-husband was being far more demanding of my perfection than God ever was.

I support you in this experience, totally. Share what you feel you can, and cherish the entire episode of your life.
:-)
Good Luck!

While I don't understand I do support my friends in the things they value. Let me know if I can help in any way.
