>While the intentions are good, it kind of gets up my nose that things of this nature are for discrete "Days," "Weeks," "Months."

I haven't read every IBARW post, but oyceter, who started the thing, has explicitly talked about this and said that just a week is insufficient.

Its kinda like a birthday, one day out of a whole year to celebrate a life which can/should be a living incarnation of two people's love for each other. Makes me want to sing: "A very happy unbirthday to my, to you...".

Still, it is good to note that as far as we've come, we've a long way to go before the adjectives are removed from the nouns, so we no longer need to think in terms of white author (likely a vampire), black author (out in sun a lot), purple author (holds breath a lot) etc.....

I can't wait to see the fur rise when some one does the "International day to blog against sexism" just from the is it gender is it sex is it culture nonsense that will arise.

Hi--long-time reader, first-time commenter.

Not long after reading this post/entry, I came across an article on mediamatters.org titled "Tucker Carlson hosted all-white panel of journalists to discuss "Obama's blackness."

Sigh.

It boggles. Man.

There are so many things wrong with that title--with that concept--where do I start?

And yet you just know there are people who rn across that and think, "Okay, so; what's wrong with that?"

Not to mention just the offense of Tucker Carlson.
