*wonders whether to steal Estel or Elrohir*

I don't suppose either would be a good idea since I'd end up annoying Elrond and Legolas both!

How about stealing all four of them? *bg* In that case, we'd probably be safe... No, that wouldn't work. I forgot about Elladan and Thranduil! :P

Your young Estel is a very wise lad. I wonder if he encounters Jannek again in a few years time and finds him changed.

I always think Estel must have been both wiser and yet, in a way, also more innocent than other children his age. Cairistiona wondered if Jannek and Estel would meet again, too - I probably should start thinking about a sequel. ;-)

Thank you very much for reading and commenting, Inzilbeth! :)

That is a most lovely story, Tinu. As I mentioned over at FFnet, you can glimpse on your wise Estel the qualities that make me love Aragorn.

"Estel looked at him, surprised. “No,” he said, giving his brother a blank look. “Why should I be? I have a leaf and an acorn, seeds, a song, and a tale. What else would I want?” It's a very poetic and apt ending to your very delicate story.

I always enjoy when you get to see the budding qualities you later just have to love about Aragorn in little Estel, so it's something I love writing about. ;-)

Thank you so much for reviewing this story a second time! *hugs*

This is such a beautiful story, Tinu! I can see so much in your young Estel of what he will eventually become, all of the wise character traits combined with the skills and ingenuity of the fighter. I love seeing my favorite characters as children, specifically because it's so fun to pick out the little traits in them that will eventually become so important to them as adults. Mmm...absolutely wonderful.

I so love little, philosophical Estel. Particularly as he's watching the children play at swordfighting, he seems so innocent, but so very mature, as he understands already, even so young, that training with the sword has a deadly purpose, and that trying to make it into a game, when you think about it, really is difficult to accept. It just seems so very right that he wouldn't be able to make sense of playing at swordfighting, since it's such a serious part of his training...and I love how analytical he is of the other boys, already sizing up their fight up in regards to the tactics, strengths, weaknesses, and weapons of all ( ... )

I think that's exactly why I love writing and reading about my favourite characters as children from time to time, too. It's just fun to try and see the man Aragorn will become in the child Estel. :)

Me, too! Particularly as he's watching the children play at swordfighting, he seems so innocent, but so very mature This is so how I see him - more mature than other children his age due to his being raised by elves, but also, at the same time, more innocent. I believe Jannek was lucky that Estel had no interest in joining the 'fight' - I can't imagine him being a graceful loser. ;-) What I enjoyed most about this story was trying to come up with gifts Estel would love and was likely to receive.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting, mellon-nin! *hugs*
