The headshots I took for college auditions this year came in today. I need to choose the one I'm going to be handing in, or decide to retake them. And because I'm the world's harshest judge of me (these pictures would be burned, I tell you) ... I need help.

aesthetically, i'd go with the first; second is too highcontrast, makes you like painted. plus, the expression is..ah..strained?

buut being unfamiliar with the 'audition headshot' genre of photography (o_0), 'm not certain what to be looking for. s'there something in particular these are supposed to convey?

as a photograph, the first one is better,

But the second one is more "headshotty", the eyes are piercing.

you know you have one of those smiles that just makes me want to smile back.

The first one looks a little phony or just very happy.
The second one like a picture you would see in a Playbill at a play.

hmm. i like them both! the first one strikes me more as you and the way you acted when we met in the city. but the second one is how i picture you and your poetry. someone said a combination of the two would be best, and i believe that would be the best, but it's not really possible, is it?
