I don't know what you have against poles but I rather like them. They give perspective...or depth rather to a picture more than they obstruct sometimes. Like your picture, for example, doesn't really have any focus, but that building in the distance. So, I see the poles as adding to an otherwise blandish regular ol thirds photo.
