1982:
There were some strange people that came to the hotel where Maria worked. Like the woman who hadn’t left her room since she checked in five days ago. She didn’t even want to imagine what was going on there. She sometimes felt very sorry for the maids who had to clean the rooms. Then off course there was the guy who kept on hitting on anything female.
One time he had been so drunk he accidentally hit on this guy who was also staying at the hotel and got a black eye for his troubles. He hadn’t left his room in a few days. She thinks it’s probably because of the black eye and shame.
About two days ago or so when she was about to finish work she saw this really cute guy come in with two women. Him and the exotic looking one looked like they could be related or something, but the red head just looked out of place. Then she left work and didn’t really think about it anymore until work next day because turns out all three only got one room and someone had to be sleeping on the couch, but Maria wondered who that was.
What was also kind of weird was that she’d see them sometimes leave, but not return and then she’d see them leave again but she figured there must be a reasonable explanation for this so she didn’t think it was her business to stick her nose in it.
Then there was this guy who seemed to count the steps from the lobby doors to the lift doors. She’s not sure what his problem is, but sometimes she just wants to go up to him and ask him how many steps it really is.

Jay Patel was bored out of his skull. Madeline Roux (he called her Maddie to annoy her) was lounging on the sofa and reading a paperback book of hers. Jacqueline was... she was still asleep. She tended to be a real sleeper. Jay was just waiting for the sun to go down so he could get out of this damn suite.
He didn’t understand why they couldn’t get separate rooms. He swears some of the staff seems to follow him with their eyes when he walks past them or something. Jackie was all about it being money-saving. Yeah, right. She just wanted to keep her eyes on him and Maddie. Though her and Maddie had been together for so many years she probably didn’t have to worry about her.
“Where are you going, Jay?” Maddie asked him, when she noticed that he was on his way out of Jackie’s hotel suite.
“Nowhere special. I’m just going for a walk, now that the sun is down. Tell her not to freak out, I’ll be back later.” He told the curly, red haired woman that was grinning at him with a glint in her eyes. But then when did she not have that glint in her eyes, she was always up to something.
“Alright. Whatever you say. Just don’t get into any major trouble. We’d like to stay here for a while.” Maddie told him, before she went back to the book that was resting in her lap. She had been reading that one for a while now, and it was called the fun name of Interview with the Vampire. How nice. Just as he was leaving, Jackie Richelieu came out of her bedroom and asked Madeline where he was going.
“Who knows. He says out for a walk. Who knows what he’ll get up to. I don’t care as long as he doesn’t bring trouble to us. How was your nap?” Maddie told the exotic looking brunette clad in dark blue satin PJ-pants and a dark green spaghetti strapped top.
“It was nice, now I just need some food and we can be on our way for some fun.” Jackie told her, with a lazy smile on her face as she stretched and had it seemed all but forgotten about Jay Patel. Maddie smiled up at her and put a bookmark in her book before standing up and walking into the bedroom that Jackie had just left.
“Then lets hurry up and get dressed. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to taste the nightlife.” Maddie told Jackie, as she stuck her head out of the bedroom again and took of her comfy royal purple T-shirt and started digging through a suitcase full of fancy looking clothes.

While the girls were getting ready to paint the town red, Jay was indeed having a walk. Hands deep in the pockets of his black coat and looked very much deep in thought. Here they were again, in another city. Doing god knows what and frankly he was getting sick and tired of this. Hotel to hotel, city after city. They never stayed anywhere for long and no matter what Maddie said it was usually not his fault if they had to leave the place in a hurry.
When they had been in Calpe, in Spain it had not been his fault that the police knocked on their front door and started asking questions about people going missing and such. Someone who had been seen with Madeline had gone missing and so they left before they got arrested... barely.
“I couldn’t help it. She was just too yummy to let her escape!” Maddie told her companions as they fled the town. Jackie was not looking pleased as Jay drove them as far as they could get before the sun came up and they’d have to find a place for the day.
“Well, could you maybe next time try to keep control of yourself because that girl was the daughter of a freaking judge. Not good, at all. You know what they do to us if we break the law.” Jay told her, and both females rolled their eyes. They were not liking these new rules.
“You know when I was young we could do whatever we wanted and no one was the wiser. Stupid people, always trying to keep eveything under control. Sometimes I miss my youth.” Jackie told him and pouted. Sure, her youth. That just happened to be 17th century France.
“Tell me about it. Things were so much simpler back then. Though I would have liked to have had your privileged background back then. Would have made a lot of things easier.” Maddie told Jackie, who just looked her with a perfect arched eyebrow. There they go again, Jay thought. Arguing again about the most trivial things. Aristocrat and her maid, who had it better. Hmm.
As he walked down a street he thought he saw across the street a man and a woman having a fight but it wasn’t his business so he just kept walking. But he did feel a bit sorry for the baby in the stroller next to the woman but it was probably too young to understand what was going on and wouldn’t even remember it when it grew up. So he just kept on walking until he got to an alright looking bar and went in to see if there was anything good to drink in this country.
It was like he’d walked into one of those old wild west movies where a guy walks in and a bottle comes hurtling towards his head. So, that didn’t happen to him but it looked like it could happen at any moment. There seemed to be this sandy-haired young guy against like four other guys. Well, that was just unfair and since he sensed that the guy was like him Jay decided to even the odds. After all, he did actually enjoy a good spot of violence sometimes.
In the end the barman had called the cops and them having superior hearing and all split before they even stepped inside and all that was left were four worse for the wear drunk Russian guys. Jay and the sandy-haired guy were a few blocks away by then and had stopped running and were both laughing. If they would have had to breath, then they’d need about twenty minutes to catch their breath. But since breath was not a problem for them, they just kept on laughing quietly.
“Thanks, I guess. My names Aidan Wolfe. What’s yours, if you don’t mind me asking?” Aidan asked the dark skinned man who had helped him out of that jam back there. It’s not like he even did anything, he was just in there for a drink of the alcoholic nature and then bumped into someone who obviously didn’t like being bumped into. But he said sorry and all, so it’s not like he was being rude or something. Sometimes he just didn’t get humans.
“No problem. It was kind of unfair of them being four against you and I sensed that you were one of my kind. My name’s Jay Patel.” Jay told Aidan, as they shook hands and Aidan looked at him a bit surprised.
“You sensed that? Heh, you must then be older than me because I didn’t sense that off you.” Aidan told him, as he scratched the back of his neck and had this half-grin on his face. He was so not going to tell his mom that because that would prove her right on how he acted at times and she was always right, she didn’t need any more ammunition.
“Maybe, who knows. But I do know I’m quite good at hiding what I am. You kind of have to, these days.” Jay told him, as they walked down a street in Moscow.
“Ah. My mother tells me I can act more like a turned vamp than a born one and as much as I hate to admit it she might actually be right. Damn.” Aidan mumbled to himself, but off course Jay heard it since he was walking beside Jay and all.
“Well, we’re getting closer to my hotel so maybe we’ll see each other again someday but I’ve got to go.” Jay told Aidan, who looked at the hotel coming up and laughed at bit.
“I’m pretty sure we’ll see each other again then since that’s also the hotel I’m staying at with my parents. Why am I with them? Oh, I don’t know. I’m freaking 82 years old but family business and all, have to be here. See you later, Jay.” Aidan told him, with a semi-grin on his face and waved, before turning into a crow and flying up into the night sky, presumably going to his hotel room.

“What’s up with Jay? He’s been in this funk of some kinda since we left Italy.” Maddie asked Jackie, as they left a club full and sated. Jackie’s tongue snaked out of her mouth and licked some leftover blood that was in the corner of her mouth.
“Oh, who knows. You know how he tends to get sometimes. He just needs to have a little fun and stop being such a pessimist.” Jackie told her, as they linked arms together and kept on walking down the street which would lead them back to their hotel... Well, probably.
“Speaking of the devil. Look at that.” Maddie told her sire, as she nodded in the direction in front of them where Jay was walking with his hands deep in the pockets of his black thick wool coat.
“Do I see a smile on your face, Jay?” Jackie asked him, as her and Maddie walked up to him and smiled. They both smelt the blood on him and knew it wasn’t his own since vampire blood may look the same but it smells differently.
“What did I tell you about playing with your food? Well, have fun but don’t make a mess and it seems like you have. I’m all for fun, but dear boy, you have got to be cautious.” Jackie told him, taking on that freaky mother-hen tone and attacks as she fixed the collar of his pale blue shirt.
“This is not from a meal. You know I have better manners than that and always have. I just got into a bit of a fight. That’s all.” Jay told her, as he shook her hands of him and adjusted his collar himself. He really hated it when she messed with his clothing.
“Good to know something I taught you seeped in. Now then, this fight. Will they be able to identify you or did you take care of them?” Jackie asked him, as Maddie just stood by grinning like mad that ‘their’ boy had gotten into a fight. Both were quite nuts, by the way.
“No, I don’t think so. The fight was already going on when I joined it and they were all pretty drunk except the one I was helping out. Don’t worry, he wasn’t even human. I was only helping out one of us.” Jay told them both, as they continued towards their hotel.
“Oh, you made a friend. How nice for you. Anyone we know?” Maddie asked him, as she walked backwards and her grin stretched all the way to her diamond studded ears. (Well, if that was possible, it would have.)
“I’m not sure we’re friends yet, but he said his name was Aidan Wolfe and he left the way most born vamps do.” Jay told them, which made both his female companions look at him. Though each reacting to a diffrent thing he said.
“Oh, if he was telling the truth you definitely want to be his friend. Very rich family, younger than me and Jackie but very influential. I tell you it’s the money that matters, always. They own this to die for jewelry company. Nice going, pet.” Maddie told him, as she swung one leather-gloved and coat clad arm over his shoulder.
“What do you mean by ‘most born vamps’? You know I hate it when you stereotype us like that.” Jackie told him, pouting at his not so politically correct mention of some born vamp powers.
“I’m sorry, Jackie. What I meant is after I said by he changed into a crow and flew of to god knows where.” Jay told her, and she stopped her pouting but she felt good that she could still totally guilt trip him if she wanted.
“Too bad we don’t know where they are staying, or you could ‘bump’ into him again. I bet he just did the crow thing to impress you.” Jackie told him, poking him in the ribs with one of her elbows and grinned at him. He was about to explain that they were staying all at the same hotel, but Maddie started talking before he got the chance.
“Jackie, not everybody who lays their eyes on him want to sleep with him. No offense, Jay.” Maddie told her Sire, who had her mind in the gutter like usually. Jay just rolled his eyes because he knew they were now going to ignore him and talk about him like he wasn’t there so there was really no reason at all for him to even answer her.
“Oh, please. Says the one who wanted to jump him the first time I brought him home.” Jackie told the red head on the other side of the man shaped moving between them.
“Are you going to bring that up again? So what? Even if I wanted to jump him what makes you think Aidan want to jump him? By the way I did not want to jump him back then, i was sick with worry about you. Your just delusional.” Maddie asked her best friend for many, many, many years and didn’t even notice when the man shaped moving thing sighed.
“He’s fucking hot. Who wouldn’t want to jump him?” Jackie just asked her red headed counterpart of many years.
“Umh, someone straight? I mean a straight guy or a lesbian. Do I always have to tell you this every time we have this conversation?” Maddie told her, with a ‘duh’ look on her face but in a sophisticated way off course.
“Well, I still say he did it to impress you and all.” Jackie told Jay before turning into a owl and flying away.
“Urgh, I hate it when she does that.” Maddie told him, before she turned into a raven and flew after her. Jay just smiled after them and continued on walking up to the hotel and entering it. Well, this hadn’t been such a bad night after all.
