I'm pretty sure it's illegal here too (as well as not giving 24 hours notice before showing the place for new renters), but landlords have been known to pressure tenants to allow it for "convenience". All the windows were closed and locked (I'm a bit paranoid about living on the first floor), and the door's never budged even with lots of windows open.
The drink was just a modification on a whiskey smash, but yeah, it's more of a Saturday afternoon drink than a quick nip after work drink. :)
I'm going to try asking the landlords first, I still trust them. I suspect the slugs, actually, they're out to get me. I was telling cris about this book yesterday, I think you might appreciate it: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/09/dining/09hour.html (summary: only acceptable drinks are "a slug of whiskey" and the martini)

In Australia, that's illegal.
It would also be... breaking the first rule of intrusion. And breaking in. Could there be a breeze that slammed it?
(your drinks are too complicated for me)
