I read that Nat Geo article as well. I noticed the part about a week of five hours of sleep per night is the equivalent of BAL officially in the 'drunk' range, which was interesting. That's what I average out to during most weeks in the past four months or so. I wonder; Does that mean no one will notice if I get a week of good sleep and do a shot with breakfast on friday? ;)
Lat night I caught the TV show that went with the article, some disturbing stuff with a guy who volunteers to be tortured by Delta Force via sleep dep and other things (they show him getting zapped with a taser). :/ But yeah, the lack of sleep equivalence to drinking alcohol was eye opening. A friend of mine, when we were doing long road trips, would often say that she felt stoned on her own bloodstream, and you know, she was exactly right. :)
