I have this feeling that the following adages are no longer appropriate: "it's not whether you win or lose", "it doesn't matter who wins, it's who you cheer for", and "it's who you support, whether they win or lose".

Somehow, I think that saying that to people in upcoming days will quickly result in being snapped at.
