How fansubs destroys the anime industry.

Idk if this is news discussed before or just VAs saying all this because they need the money, but Troy and Brittney went on a very long discussion about fansubs destroying the anime industry when I went to see them at Florida Supercon. Not just outside of Japan, but within it too.

How the mighty have fallen ;-;

I imagine you would have to be a avid fan of anime to get that motivation to do what he did.

...That's sad, that ADV is gone. Unfortunately, it's not just fansubs that do it; the entire economy just sucks right now. A lot of people I know that download fansubs later purchase licensed dvds when they come out, but a lot of other people do only download fansubs (like myself). Unfortunately again, any of us otaku out on our own without expendable income can't really ever plan or hope to buy official releases because they tend to be $30 for six episodes and it's freaking ridiculous. :|;;

And Troy points out that DVDs didn't originally cost that much, but the price has to increase due to economy and needing to pay the entire crew/production. I mean it's not here that's just hurting, it's hurting over in Japan for the animation studios.

They're working on that buying boxset issue with online streaming. A buck or two for an episode? Sounds better than 60 bucks for like...30 episode boxset lol
