I’m sure mixing this fic was kind of hard, because the draft I sent in had basically none of the pseudo-relationship scenes towards the end--seriously, it was only half the length it is now--but wow,
spuzz and
manipulant totally came through, and these songs all fit really well with how the fic turned out in the end.

First of all, it opens with The Killers, which I think is A+, and She & Him, which is awesome because I kind of have a crush on Zooey Deschanel. I love the cohesive feel of all the songs together, it’s really cheerful and it kind of fits with the kind of fluffy tone of a romantic comedy. It’s really a mix that makes me want to bounce around and dance, and it’s just really fun to listen to. I especially love the songs Somebody To Love and Everyday I Write The Book, I think the lyrics to those fit so well into the fic, and of course a song by The Beatles is always a good life choice.
It’s wrong to say this mix wasn’t what I was expecting, because I honestly wasn’t expecting any songs or style in particular, but these songs were really surprising and a lot of them I hadn’t even heard before! It’s just really neat, and I’m so glad to finally be able to hear it. :D Also,
spuzz is one of my favorite graphic/icon artists, and she used a couple of my favorite pictures of Frank and Gerard for the cover image, and I just love it a lot, okay? ♥

I just have to say something about the adorableness of that front cover image. SO CUTE. I love it.
I'm a sucker for instrumental songs, and I just love What Do You Go Home To? for that reason, and for the kind of melancholy angst. It's a pretty fluffy story on the whole, but things do get kind of awful for Frank especially, and I think this song in particular works very well to show that. I also love the song Be My Baby, and I don't even know why but I just think it's perfect. There are a lot of songs on this mix that I hadn't heard before too, and it was a pleasure to listen to them all together.
I think these mixes are excellent complements to each other, because they both suit different aspects of the mood of the story. I find it really interesting how they both have some of the same styles of music, and they work well together and separately. I guess I'm just kind of tickled to think that there are things in my fic that made two different people create consistent mixes. It's just so great, and these are going on my ipod as soon as I can find my damn cord. :D As soon as I start listening to all this music, I just can't be unhappy, it's like magic. It's also a little different from my experience with fanmixes last year, because that story was tragic and the mix reflected that; this story's much happier, and these mixes definitely reflect that.
