I have heard good things and scary things about thesamefire's In The Walls.

Is this fic going to scare the living shit out of me?

I am going to read it, because I've always wanted a good Paramour fic. But this is me wondering if I should start it at night before I try and sleep, or wait until I have time to read during the day when I'm slightly less likely ( Read more... )

question, to do list, bbb

Personally, I didn't find it that scary. Actually, I found large chunks of it to be pretty tedious - there's a lot of Gerard wandering around and eating cereal and drinking coffee over and over and over again, which got really repetitive for me. There are a few parts, more toward the end, where semi-freaky stuff happens, but honestly I wish there'd been a lot more of that, or a lot more of anything happening. It took me several days to finish reading it, and you know how quickly I read fic. I guess maybe the pacing was a little too slow for me? There's a lot of inner monologue-type stuff from Gerard and just not a whole lot of action, not a whole lot happening. The 'scary' bits, though, weren't all that scary, I don't think - certainly nothing that bothered me reading it late at night.

I don't know. I guess what I'm trying to say is that's I thought it was all right, but I've read better, shorter Paramour fics. YMMV, et cetera, et cetera.

oh yay, honesty. :D people have said it's really good, and also that they've been freaked out, so I was kind of worried. :\ it is really long, isn't it? kinda sucks if the pacing is too slow when it's, what, 75k? I might start it tonight, especially if it's gonna take a few days to finish.

When have I not been honest about fic? ;)

Seriously, though, give it a go! You might really like it - lots of other people have - and I might be alone in my opinion. To me it just felt a bit like a film that goes on for about half an hour too long. Cut out about 10K words of Gerard wandering around in his pajamas drinking coffee and smoking, and perhaps I wouldn't have been so bored. I'm glad I read it, though, even if it wasn't quite as enjoyable as I'd hoped.

I was going to start it, but then I got distracted by Gerard/Mikey/their dad fic. Which was... weird. But, strangely enough, not horrible. And then I read some more bad fic that was just... bad. lol

Have you ever seen Lost In Translation? Not the same thing as you're talking about, I don't think, because it wasn't just too long, but to me, it actually projected the characters' feeling of complete and utter boredom onto me. Not a good quality for a movie, I must say. ...idek why I'm talking about this.
