Holy fuck.

Good on her - refusing to take a pay cut when e.g. RSL didn't. Fuck this misogynistic bullshit (like the writing of the show has embraced now). But damn, talk about the end of an era. I was clinging on for her, but now I'm free after the finale.

I really thought they'd come to some kind of agreement, even if for only a limited number of episodes next season. No one has done more press or public campaigning for House MD than LE... I just can't believe they're letting her leave.

ETA: In light of everything, I think I'm done after the S7 finale, too.

Well damn it! LTM cancellation, and then this news. Plus I'm still trying to recover from the Castle finale last night. I love Cuddy. House will not be the same without her. It's a shame. I wish her the best in whatever she does in the future....she is simply wonderful.

I know, right?!? FOX is quickly becoming the network I love to hate.

ITA. Hopefully we'll see her in another show soon.

Hopefully ...I'm done with House which is sad because I enjoyed it very much once upon a time. :(

Yeah, I woke up to this and nearly had a panic attack. I am in absolute shock. I didn't see this coming at all. I thought for sure she'd be a shoe-in considering KJ's quote, but I should've known better than to believe TPTB. :(

After LTM and now this, I honestly don't know why I continue watching TV. I feel like I've been sucker punched.

But if it really is down to money, then good for her in taking a stand. This sounds exactly what happened in CSI:NY when Stella left. Stella was my favorite character and I completely stopped watching after that. Now I have confirmation that I won't watch House S8 at all. I was still on the fence pending the finale, but now it seems like that will be my final episode. I wish LE all the best though. She is fantastic.

I think I'm out after this season's finale, too. It's difficult to support a show with such disregard for its fans.

Not just fans, but the actress herself. I know we as fans aren't owed a single thing, but to not have Cuddy around? Seriously? Maybe I was foolish in thinking OT3 would be locked in because they are so essential to the show. Clearly not.

The politics of Hollywood disgusts me too. I don't understand how House will survive with only one female character that will probably be there less than half of the time depending on OW's schedule. But I can understand leaving. I just really wished it was handled better and since this next season appears to be the final season. I'm also angry about how plotlines will work. Not that I plan on watching S8, but seriously, being relegated to one line about where Cuddy will be does not do her or the show justice.

Now there REALLY needs to be a FOX support group or something. I should jump ship and watch another network or stop all together. :P

I don't know, I kind of disagree with this. I think a show is made successful because of the fans, and they certainly don't have to listen to us and give us what we want, but they can treat us with respect and acknowledge how passionate we are about the show. This, I have not seen at all from the House TPTB, especially with Greg Yaitaines. He's been such an ass, like literally. This is why I'm so torn. I want a final season to really finish out the series and give us something good, but I also don't feel like supporting them at all for how they've treated the fans, and now for how they've treated LE.

Yeah, I absolutely can't believe it. I really thought she would sign up for what is being pegged as the last season of House. I remember reading comments she made where she said she'd totally be there for the last season. I guess the pay cuts and the bullshit TPTB were trying to pull were just too much. Honestly, I felt they were being complete asses to her with what they were trying to do so I'm kind of happy and not happy with her decision. I have to watch the end of House though. I'm a completionist and if I don't know what happens to him, then I'll just panic. It won't be the same though. It won't be the same at all.

I completely understand what you mean about being happy and not happy. I guess I've been in denial, because as the rest of the cast signed one by one, I clung to the naive belief that LE and TPTB would come to some kind of face-saving compromise. (Agreeing to have LE appear in fewer episodes next season, for instance.) I thought they'd actually write her out. House, Cuddy and Wilson have always been the core of the show to me. Losing any one of the three seems unthinkable.

It is absolutely unthinkable losing one of the three. It's truly an OT3 type of show, which is why I'm so shocked! I'm sure it's not going to work without her. It just can't. Idk, I'm hoping that something gets figured out. I know she said she wasn't coming back, but there must still be time and I know KJ said it wouldn't be the same without her at all and they'd do everything to have LE on there, so I'm still a bit hopeful. I don't understand though how they were really planning on having her appear in 6 less episodes to save money. Why not just make a really nice succint ending to the series in 18 eps and have everyone be in all of them? I mean, I can think of a couple of episodes we didn't need at all this season. That's just me though. I'm still kind of holding out, and have gotten over the shock.

Wow, that is a bummer :( I could understand if they were looking for another multi-year commitment where she might want to move on, but did I read the article correctly in that it was only for one more year? I'd think if for no other reason than respect for the fans she'd be able to do one more year :(

I think her refusal to re-up probably had a lot to do with the salaries some of her costars are being paid next season. I support her decision, but the whole thing makes me sick.

Ahh, the old glass ceiling for the smarter sex :) Been there, done that, and I have to say if that is why, I totally get it.
