A Mini-Rant about Hating on house_spoilers

Mar 07, 2009 12:41

Rather than rant all over again, I just copied my original post from house_spoilers.

This used to be a great comm before all the shipping bullshit.

I love House/Cuddy. I love House/Wilson. Why do I have to read through 200 posts of any of these characters getting trashed?

I almost included a link to the original post, but then I thought, "Why spread that hate and idiocy?"

Everyone probably already knows to what I'm referring, anyway.

Thank you :)

That misogynistic attitude just irritates me, whenever I run into it.

I think it's some kind of Pavlovian response to spoilers... whenever they mention the words "House" and "Cuddy" certain parties start salivating at the thought of perceived missed gay sex opportunities.

Trash talking is exactly why I rarely go to *any* of the main comms anymore. It's sad because I enjoy House/Wilson but I can't go to the comm without being subjected to Cuddy bashing. And House/Cuddy isn't much better...except that, oddly, they also seem more likely to bash Cuddy when she isn't exactly what they want.

Eh, whatev. I just stay in my little fandom bubble. I'm happier that way.

I've gotten to where I limit myself... but it seems no matter how far I cut back, it's never enough. And TBH, it's starting to piss me off that I have to avoid certain places altogether b/c people aren't forced to follow the rules. Doesn't it ever bother you? (Maybe I'm the only one. It's possible.)

I can't agree more about house_cuddy. Sometimes I log on over there and have to check to make sure I'm on the right comm, b/c it feels more like a Hameron board for all the Cuddy-hate that goes on.

I should probably stay in my bubble, too... it's just that it's getting claustrophobic.

It definitely makes me angry and I know exactly what you mean about feeling claustrophobic. My isolationist attitude is due to the fact I don't know how to change it. The bashing has been allowed to run rampant and I don't think it's likely those who do the bashing are going to suddenly start policing themselves. So I stay in my bubble. It's small but it's happy.

Thank you for posting this. I have had to avoid almost all House/Wilson communities because of the surge of Cuddy hate...and this is a shame because I like Wilson. (I almost expect Cuddy hate in House/Cam communities - so for whatever reason that doesn't upset me as much). Now the Cuddy hate has spread to so many communities. I'm all for Wilson having more screen time and House and Wilson having more screen time together. In terms of gay sex - I'm all for it. Some of my favorite 'ships have been slash. I just don't think that if Cuddy were not a character in the show it would be hardcore Wilson/House all the time.

On one hand, I dislike the fact that I even care what immature, hate-filled people are posting. OTOH, why do they get to be the only ones to complain? ;)

I'm all for gay sex. If I weren't so hooked on House/Cuddy, I'd be even more of a House/Wilson shipper than I am now. I don't understand why some people seem to think one defacto negates the other. Plus, like you said, I don't think it's Cuddy's existence that's keeping the writers of House from sending Greg and Jimmy off into a brave new, neon pink future together. I just don't think the network is ready for that.
