The fact that that cat doesn't like me is getting to me far more than it ought to.  Pinkle Purr, who was supposed to be Emily's cat, is fond of three, perhaps four people in the whole world (she likes my parents and Rebecca and the jury's still out on my brother.) For me, however, she reserves a special loathing which mostly manifests in drawing

Not all cats are like that. My cats are very social and loving creatures. It just takes some work, finesse, and time to get to that point.

My suggestion is to bribe her. Give her her favorite food (which might not be what she eats every day), give her some catnip (if she's into that)... Try luring her in with a new toy. Fishing pole cat toys are awesome (especially since they keep your hands away from her claws until she trusts you more). Just flip it and/or drag it around absent-mindedly in 15 minute sessions until she decides she's ready to pounce. She'll come around eventually.
