LOCATIONS

SILENSOMNUS

Think of Silensomnus as a continent or a large city. At the heart of it is the woods and surrounding it are the four other locations your character can get to. To the north is Sleepy Hollow and to the south, Toulca Lake. Silent Hill is to the east of the woods, while the Manor of Sleep // All God's Village is to the west.

CENTER
THE WOODS →

[the gnarled tree of the dead] - a large gnarled tree in the western edge of the woods, as big as it is disturbing. allegedly, it is the entry point from this world to the next, or at least it is for the headless horseman, or rather (for the skeptical) the dark cloaked rider.

[the old tree] - a very large, very old tree located near minakami cemetery. it's hollowed out and inside there is shrine where pinewheels have been placed to comfort the spirits of the remaining.

[minakami cemetery] - a cemetery where the families of those that lived in minakami//all gods village are now buried. there are rows upon rows of graves and tombs.

NORTH
SLEEPY HOLLOW →

[the town] - a sleepy village located on the northern side of the woods. it looks like something out of the late 1700s, and apart from the many residences, has a windmill, a cemetery, a one room church, and an apple orchard.

SOUTH
TOULCA LAKE →

[wish house] - a run-down orphanage on the outskirts, shrouded in woods, with a view of the lake behind it. after all its years of abandonment, it appears to be condemned and falling apart. though its a roof to spend the night in while traveling through the woods if need be, albeit a creepy one. during one's stay, it wouldn't be too far out of line to hear the sounds of children crying.

[rosewater park] - a park situated close to the water's shore, with a brick wall surrounding the entrance, and a sign proclaiming its name in weary letters. the inside contains memorials for those who have died, a gazebo, benches, some small buildings (presumably shacks) and a roped off lock stretching out across the water.

EAST
SILENT HILL →

[alchemilla hospital] - a hospital stock full of operating rooms, nurse stations, intensive care units, plentiful patient rooms, and public restrooms. it has three floors (all accessible) and a basement.

[church of the holy way] - the main church in the town, designed similar to a gothic cathedral. it contains the main hall, and the east and west wings (with a collapsed hallway.) decorated with stained glass windows, statues, pews, confessional booths, and a pipe organ (with a secret behind it.) on the outside, there is a set of air raid sirens, that seem to go off during otherworld (nightmare) shifts.

[the lair] - located beneath the church of the holy way and divided into three sectors. the lair is full of rooms, most of which are unable to be opened, either because they're locked or jammed. the room that can be entered are disturbing, because they were used for torture. blood is in loads here, even if only stains, and definitely around the many seepage drains. in the heart of the lair, there are two chambers, one houses tablets inscribed by families, holding them in a pact to sacrifice a child every fifty years and in the other, where they would do such a thing.

[the dargento cemetery] - sectioned into three different gardens: the sun garden, the moon garden, and the janus garden. the cemetery is full of tombstones, more so than a normal town might be. its also got its share of crypts. there is a section in the entrance where stone coffins are stacked and packed one on top of the other, because so many people had died so fast.

[lakeside amusement park] - a run-of-the-mill amusement park, or at least it would be if not for the gritty outlook, composed of dirt, rust, and what may or may not be blood. its contents include a roller coaster, a merry-go-round, and several other small rides and attractions. beware the carousel after the sirens have gone off, for the horses might be on the attack, and they breathe toxic fumes.

[brookhaven hospital] - don't be fooled by the namesake; brookhaven is a mental institution, housed on the spot native americans once used for sacred rituals. settlers in the area constructed it when an epidemic broke out and people began to die. it was closed, and later reopened, and in the same varying states of decay and disarray as the rest of the town.

[cafe5to2] - a classic, small town diner for locals and those passing through alike. the interior isn't anything to write home about, just a few tables and booths, and the stools lining the bar for people who like to eat alone.

[woodside apartments] - an apartment building with three stories and two entrances, one at the east and the other at the west. it overlooks a courtyard, has a fire escape, and a laundry room- for those out there brave enough to chance life in silent hill.

[nathan drugs] - a local drug store to pick up every day supplies.

[silent hill town center] - a two story shopping mall.

WEST
MANOR OF SLEEP//ALL GOD'S VILLAGE →

[minakami village] - also known as the all god's village. one night after a ceremony, the village completely disappeared. anyone who finds the village is said to be spirited away and never seen again. the village surrounds, and is part of, the manor of sleep. the most notable buildings are as follows;

[kureha shrine] - an old shinto shrine that was presumably used for the religious purposes of the village. there is a passage hidden behind the altar, though it has been sealed.

[kurosawa house] - the largest house in the village, besides the manor of sleep, and was owned by the ruling family of minakami village. this was where the cutting ritual would take place. it's connected to the rest of the village by means of the whisper bridge.

[kuze shrine] - the majority of the sprawling manor is the kuze family shrine. it was place that was used to ease the pain of those who had survived, where their loved one hadn’t. this was where the piercing of the soul ceremony would take place. the most notable rooms are as follows;

[spirit tree garden] - an open courtyard in the middle of the manor, with a large tree in the center. surrounding the tree are dozens of skewered dolls. the double doors at the back are currently sealed.

[rope altar] - a room in which an altar stands stained in blood. there are five pillars, similar to rack-like devices, surrounding the altar. ropes were attacked to the neck, arms, and legs of the rope shrine maiden, and this was where she was dismembered during the ceremony of ropes.

[tattoo altar] - a room in the manor where a cage could be raised and lowered. in this cage was where the tattoo maiden would be kept while the piercing of the soul ceremony was being underwent.

[grave courtyard] - this courtyard marks the boundaries between the manor of sleep and the remainder of the kuze shrine where the family lived. the mound of graves here were to commemorate the shrine carpenters that were sacrificed to seal the manor of sleep to contain the rift.

[shrine courtyard] - just beyond the spirit tree garden, through the double doors lies the shrine courtyard. this is a large courtyard which leads between the kuze shrine and the engraving shrine. this area, and everything beyond it, is currently inaccessible. these inaccessible rooms are as follows;

[engraving shrine] - the shrine on the other side of the shrine courtyard. this was where the tattooed priestess would receive her tattoos in the piercing of the soul ceremony.

[abyss] - through the double doors at the back of the engraving shrine is the abyss. a long tunnel burrowing down into the ground. the tattooed priestess was lowered in the cage while the procession made their way down on the spiral walkway around the edge.

[last passage] - at the bottom of the abyss, through the double doors there, is the last passage. the tattooed priestess would make her way along here towards the chamber of thorns for the final process in the piercing of the soul ceremony.

[chamber of thorns] - the final resting place of the tattooed priestess, where the impalement ritual takes place. bodies of former tattooed priestesses line the walls and floor here, and in the center of the room lays reika, impaled. next to her is the body of a man- who could he be, and why is he there?

[abyss of the horizon] - the crossroads between the land of the living and the land of the dead. this is where the dead are supposed to cross over, however because of the unleashing, they are unable to and continue to wander the manor of sleep.
