letters of reference

In a situation where letters of reference are completely optional, and you're allowed to have anywhere from 0-3, is it better to have one good one and two mediocre ones or just one good one? (By mediocre I mean entirely positive but not detailed, but my understanding is that kind of thing can count against you as much as it can count for you. ( Read more... )
