Possibly the first time I've ever kept a New Year's Resolution

I have come to the rather sad conclusion that lately I have been reading things for stylistic reasons rather than plot.  This saddens me greatly, for once upon a time, Plot was my dear friend, but I have lost it in the Sea of Experimentation.  You can help me regain what I have lost (and possibly restore my sanity) by recommending me books with fun ( Read more... )

books, poetry

Oh, yay, someone talking about Discworld on the day I have musingishness about it. Okay, so you know how, back in Equal Rites, the girl wizard is born? And therefore it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that girls can fall into the lineage of wizards and whatnot? Well, I was thinking about that while falling asleep last night and the idea that a child born after Ginny Weasley would be, by Discworld definition, a Sourceror.

Umm, yeah, this is totally random. But I had fun for about 5 seconds pre-sleep thinking up a name for the child and a backstory on why he/she is no longer living at home with Molly and Arthur (or even at Hogwarts with Ginny and Ron).

Erm. *cough* And now I shall go away and stop inflicting my weird thoughts on you.

Now worries, I enjoy random. And I'm always up for a crossover with Discworld, so inflict away.

Or if there is a long-lost older Weasley and Ginny is the female Sourcerer fighting for her rights?

Now you have me brainstorming as well...

Ohhh!! Damn, I never even considered that angle.

What do you suppose would happen if the eighth child was a pair of twins, instead? *thinks*

It wouldn't be fair if only the twin that popped out first had special powers...

It could be like Fred and George on an entirely new level.

Thanks for the list - I'll throw that in my memories for later on.

If you want something that is both amazing stylistically AND has a decent plot, I highly recommend The Handmaiden's Tale which I'm going to do a brief blurb about later on.

Have added it to my pile! Thank goodness we both like Atwood, eh?
